Did you hear? Did you watch? I did. After the Canucks lost the Stanley Cup to the Bruins last night there was a riot ! Some people were stabbed and beaten if they were a Boston Bruins fan! Cars were set on fire. People were cheering all of this on and taking pictures. I don’t know about you but I am a Canucks fan but I don’t have anything against the Bruins. I thought the Bruins did a great job and deserved the cup. People are saying the ones who started the riot were planning it from the beginning even if the Canucks won it would still be crazy out there.
There was a lot of damage done and fixing one store alone ( London Drugs) cost at least 1 million dollars! For the cops to come and help get rid of the riot it cost half a million dollars! There were several more expensive costs. The cleanup on the streets will take days to clean.
I am embarrassed of the riot that happened. A true Canucks fan wouldn’t do that, it was wrong and now people may look down on Canucks fans. It seems people thought that just because the Canucks lost they can do what ever they want and go crazy. They thought that know one would find out who they were or even care! That is so wrong they have done so much damage and have hurt over 100 people. I understand that they may be upset but know one needs to be stabbed and no buildings need to be vandalised!! The Boston Bruins were still in Rogers arena the next morning because the players might have gotten hurt from the raging Canucks fans. I think that the people who made the damage and started the riot should be jailed, sued or do lot of community service. What do you think?
The Canucks fans should still be happy because the Canucks have made it that far! They made it to the 7th game and they were only 5 points away from the Stanely cup. I think that’s pretty good and we don’t have that much to be upset over. Are you a Boston Bruins fan or a Canucks? I like the Canucks the most but I love the Boston Bruins Goally Tim Thomas! He’s is my favourite player on their team.

Are you looking for a really funny book to read? That will keep you laughing out loud the whole time? Well Schooled is a comedy book about a boy named Capricorn Anderson that has been home schooled his whole life. When his grandmother Rain falls out of a tree Cap is forced to go to a public school. He is clueless about new technologies which makes the book very entertaining . Out of ten stars I would rate Schooled a 8 or maybe 9. The end of the book is very surprising and good you would never expect what happens.

In the north Pacific Ocean there is an area known as the garbage patch. Environmentalists say there is over 3.5 million tons of floating garbage. That’s the size of over two times the size of Texas. Thousands of birds and sea creatures are dying from digesting tiny bits of plastic that have been broken down in the ocean. They mistake it as food because there are more plastic bits than plankton here. They die because the plastic dehydrates them or stops their digesting system from working. Some of the plastic bits that are in the marine life travel up to our food chain and maybe even onto your dinner plate! Even you could be digesting plastic!
What environmental issue are you most worried about and why?

What is an electric circuit? Well first circuits need to be completed for them to work proper. Which mean the wires should go into a full loop around the power source and back again. Circuits that are not completed won’t work because the electricity wont travel around them properly. A power source for a circuit can be batteries (cells) or mains which is a plug in. To complete the circuit the cells ( if you are having more than one cell) should all be facing the same direction. The positive of one cell should connected to the negative of the next cell. Sometimes there is other ways to make a circuit which is putting a conductor into the circuit but still using at least one cell ( battery). A conductor is something that is metal which allows the electricity to pass through. The opposite of conductors is insulators which do not allow electricity to pass through because insulators are either rubber plastic or glass.
Switches may be helpful because it allows you to control your circuit. Switches are like light switches they allow you to make or break your circuit. If the switch is in the ON position the circuit is complete . If the switch is in the off position the circuit is broken. There are lots of kinds of switches but the ones you might have heard about are push switches or toggle switches. Switches are used in your life everyday it might be you turn on a light in your room or turn on a blow dryer or maybe even turn on a flashlight.
If you only have one cell and two bulbs then your light may be dim because the cell has to share the power with both bulbs. If you had two cells and two bulbs then there would be a decent light because it is even. Adding more cells will make your light brighter but if you add too many the bulb will burn out.
If adding a conductor your light may become dimmer because the electricity has to be spread around a bigger circuit.
What are resources where all the energy comes from? There is tons of energy resources like Fossil fuels, Nuclear power, Solar power and, wind power. There is more than that but these ones too me are pretty simple to learn about. First off is Fossil fuels which is coal, gas, and oil. These are called fossil fuels because they have been made out of organic remains. The coal is crushed into a dust and the gas and oil are burnt directly. When the fuels burns is causes heat in the water which makes steam. Steam turns the turbines and turbines turn the generators which gives electrical power.
Nuclear power is produced pretty much in the same cycle as fossil fuels. First there is nuclear fuel inside the reactor. Operators lift a lever which lifts control rods out of the nuclear fuel. Lifting the lever the nuclear fission heats water which causes steam. Steam turns the turbines and the turbines turn the generator which gives electrical power.
Solar power has three ways of giving power. First way is solar cells which converts the suns energy into electricity right away. Second is solar water heating. The water is pumped through pipes in a panel. The pipes are black so when it is hot out the water will get warmer when the sun shines down on them. Using solar water power will reduce you using so much gas and electricity to heat your water at home and will cut your fuel bills.
Solar furnaces is a big array of mirrors that gathers the suns energy in a small place which produces a very high temperatures. The temperature can go up to 3 000 degrees Celsius.
Wind power: The sun heats our atmosphere unevenly so some places are warmer than others. Warm patches of air rise then other wind blows in to replace it. We use wind as energy by building tall towers with a propeller on the top. The wind blows the propeller around which turns a generator to produce electricity.

Do you know what tags and categories are when you are blogging? Maybe you have heard about tagging a picture of your friend on Facebook but this kind of tagging is a little different. You know when you are on a blog and you want to read something fun? Well what you do is you can go to the search button and type in what you want to read about. Example you wanted to read something funny you go to search and you type in funny. If the blogger has added a tag to a post with funny in it then it will pop up . So instead of searching through all the post you can just type in a tag name . So much easier right?
Categories are important because if you are looking for a certain type of post you can look into the categories and see what they have. I usually like to read the choice posts on peoples blog so that’s what I would search for. What kind of posts do you like to read?

If you have a blog you have a Digital Dossier. A Digital Dossier is simply gathering all the digital tracks you leave behind. Creating accounts on websites or purchasing items on sites leads to you having a digital dossier. I have signed up for lots things and bought stuff on the Internet like Facebook, YouTube, Edublogs, Twiducate, Gmail, Netflicks, Hotmail, Glogster, Abercrombie and Fitch and probably a lot more. What sites have you registered for? When people register on sites they have to include information but some questions you don’t have to answer. When I sign up for things I usually try to give the least information as possible do you? I looked up my name and what town I live in to see what comes up and I couldn’t find anything to do with me except I found my Facebook page. When you try looking up your name and town can you find anything to do with you?

Safer Internet day was created to make people safe and aware of what could happen when using the Internet. Safer Internet day was created in Europe . You should always keep your identity protected on the Internet, you never know what could happen or who can see your personal information. Being aware and safe on the Internet is called being Internet savvy. When you let your friends take pictures or videos of you and you don’t want the pictures exposed on the Internet make sure you tell them. When you’re on the Internet every few minutes the Internet does a scan. If you had a picture on facebook and you deleted it, it is never fully deleted. The computer did a scan so it is somewhere on the Internet. Everything you put on the Internet is permanent. So, in order to be Internet savvy, make sure you arevery careful of what you share on the Internet. Are you Internet savvy?
